Clement Seymour, Sir Coxsone, Downbeat The Ruler, Dodd..the KiNG of sounds and blues and Jamaica’s most celebrated producer left a musical legacy that stretches far and wide..from the streets, hills and gullies of Jamaica across the sea to London, New York, Tokyo, Paris, Berlin, Rio and beyond.

Instrumental in the development of Jamaica’s independent music industry from shuffle through to Ska, Rocksteady, and onto Reggae Sir Coxsone’s legendary Jamaica recording and Publishing Studio aka Studio 1 reigned supreme throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s but it was built on the success of his Sound System Sir Coxsons Downbeat which was widely regarded as the Number 1 Sound on the Island due not only to his choice of selectors and sounds but also his desire to be the best and write his page in history.

Vocalists, instrumentalists and groups such as the Wailers, the Maytals, Ken Boothe, Jackie Mittoo, Don Drummond, Roland Alphonso, Dennis Brown, Delroy Wilson, the Heptones, Burning Spear, Horace Andy, Lee Perry, the Skatalites and MANY, MANY more forged their careers at Brentford Road and went on to record some of the greatest and most authentic Soul Rebel music of the 1960’s and 70’s. Without Coxsone this wouldn’t have been possible.
